MEETING LOCATIONS

The LMGA Board of Directors meets every two months. Our aim is to hold our meetings at various locations of interest in Southern California. We are very fortunate to benefit from the generosity of a wide variety of Southern California venues.

This page highlights some of the locations whose owners have kindly provided us with space for our meetings, and often much more. Please keep these locations in mind for your filming needs.

SPORTSMEN’S LODGE EVENT CENTERJANUARY 2013

The 1st Annual Holiday Party was held in the stunning River Rock Lounge and board meetings in the Embers room. Extensive renovations heralds a contemporary era for the Sportsmen’s Lodge Events Center, while maintaining the classic Hollywood charm of the past. Very film friendly property with the best parking in the area.

Our Biannual Event was held in a ballroom followed by a rooftop lounge reception.

A historical building dating back to the 1920s, this unique property features a classic Art Deco exterior. This ideal location embodies an invaluable “big city” feeling without having to leave the Los Angeles movie zone. Our board meeting was followed by an afternoon enjoying the rooftop pool.

SIX FLAGS MAGIC MOUNTAINJUNE 2012

The organizational board meeting was held in the Santa Clarita administrative offices at Six Flags, followed by a FAM TOUR of this vast amusement park and adjacent water park- Hurricane Harbor. Six Flags is very film friendly and offers many unique looks nationwide. It’s one stop shopping for all 19 locations in North America.

THE CULVER HOTELMAY 2012

The 2012 Annual Elections & reception were held at the historic Culver Hotel in downtown Culver City. This boutique hotel has been restored to the luxurious standards of its initial conception back in 1924. The new ownership is very film friendly.

Our Biannual Event was hosted at the renovated Belasco Theater, a world-class multi purpose event and entertainment complex. This 40,000 square foot venue retains most of its original architecture and design from the early 1900′s- including dramatic interior detailing.

Business member, Cap Equity Locations, facilitated our committees & board meeting in the closed restaurant overlooking the Japanese garden, with views of the downtown skyline. The newly renovated Kyoto Grand Hotel and Gardens is a distinguished cosmopolitan hotel marked with chic Asian influences.

PALEY CENTER FOR MEDIAMAY 2011

Our 2011 Elections and General Membership Meeting was hosted at the renowned Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills. This museum of television and radio programming is a contemporary architectural delight. A sumptuous rooftop reception followed the elections, which were held in the John Mitchell theatre. We held our organizational meeting in the spacious private Skyview room off the indoor garden court. Built in 1914, the historic Yamashiro was an iconic Japanese mansion turned private Hollywood club before transforming into the stunning restaurant it is today.

Hornblower’s nostalgic Zumbrota is a Roaring Twenties masterpiece rich in celebrity history. This magical vessel, showcasing walls paneled in Burmese teak, was host to our January board meeting. Docked in Marina del Rey, alongside Fisherman’s Village, Hornblower offers a fleet of unique vessels for filming.

The November board meeting was graciously hosted by the Kimpton Hotel Company at their stylish Hotel Palomar in Westwood. The Palomar defines what a boutique hotel should be: hip and modern in its decor and old fashioned in their practice of customer service.

The beautifully restored Music Box Theater in Hollywood hosted our Biannual Event. Constructed in the roaring twenties, this prestigious venue was transformed back to its original Golden Age grandeur.

AVALON HOTELJULY 2010

Snuggled within an embrace of banana leaves and palm fronds, this Beverly Hills luxury hotel is set around a dramatic pool terrace with private cabanas and the signature restaurant Oliverio. Avalon Hotel, once the home to Marilyn Monroe and other stars of the former MGM backlot, looks and feels like old Hollywood glamour with its hip mid century decor.

The LMGA’s Education Committee held another Seminar: “Finding Your Niche in a Changing Industry”, and it was followed up by a board meeting at the W Hotel in Westwood. The hotel looks great, and they work wonders to accommodate filming.

Riverfront has a new facility and a new location. It includes 3 distinct courtrooms, a cellblock, a morgue and a 6,800 square foot contemporary office with conference room, executive and junior offices, elevator lobby, kitchen, reception area and bullpen. We had our board meeting in the modern courtroom set!

We held our organizational meeting in this contemporary complex that includes a modern office building, designer showrooms, a lobby, a gym, an outdoor café, three restaurants, a large conference center, a movie theater, a 5 story parking structure, and other film friendly areas.

THE CROCKER CLUBMAY 2009

Our annual membership meeting, election, and board meeting was held in the former Crocker Bank building. The Crocker Club features the original bank vault door, which serves as the entrance to Mosler Lounge. The adjacent Ghost Bar is a spacious area featuring restored 1920s-era ceilings.

The London generously hosted our board meeting as well as our first symposium: “Greening Hollywood Set by Set”. The newly renovated hotel (formerly the Bel Age) has been named one of the “hottest” new hotels in the world by Conde Nast Traveler magazine.

This and several other meetings were held the Los Feliz area Masonic Temple. It includes a courtroom set, an additional large room, and the best parking lot in the area.
