The LMGI is fast becoming the town square for location professionals around the world. We seek to continually expand our global village. In this issue, the LMGI Compass<\/i> celebrates our version of the British Invasion with a look at some of our talented members across the pond. It has been gratifying to watch the LMGI successfully grow into its newly minted brand, offering members around the world a way to connect with their colleagues and share their knowledge and experiences.<\/p>\n

In our cover story, \u201cOut of This World,\u201d reporter Nancy Mills looks at the storied career of renaissance location manager Emma Pill, who recently worked on Blade Runner 2049<\/i>. Pill discovers reimagination is the key to creating a new world order with designer Dennis Gassner in this long-awaited sequel to Ridley Scott\u2019s iconic masterpiece.<\/p>\n

Former NPR reporter-turned-producer Shannon Mullen had a sit-down with \u201cAll the King\u2019s Men,\u201d hanging out at a London pub with Andrew Buckley and Vinnie Jassal to discuss their work on the newest entry to the hot Kingsman<\/i> franchise, Kingsman: The Golden Circle<\/i>. Through the laughter and deprecation, a strong sense of location professionalism emerged. Sign us up to join that team!<\/p>\n

\u201cCareer Focus\u201d follows the illustrious m\u00e9tier of David O\u2019Reilly \u2026 from a child posing as the caped crusader running around the streets of South London, to bringing Batman to film in those very streets of Croyden, to scouting for Rogue One<\/i>\u2019s galaxies far, far away. O\u2019Reilly offers an ironic look at his trajectory, most recently culminating in directing Kubrick by Candlelight<\/i>.<\/p>\n

We then swing over to endlessly photogenic Iceland with a brilliant retrospective on the photography from LMGI members who have participated in numerous Fam Tours held since 2009. We are delighted to note that this article is a precursor to an exhibit that will open in Los Angeles in 2018 and then travel \u2026 keep this in mind as a model \u2026 it\u2019s a great win-win to show off fabulous, film-friendly locations while showcasing the extraordinary photography skills of our members.<\/p>\n

We give a shout-out to our Canadian members in our featured column, \u201cIn My City.\u201d Toronto location pro John Rakich gives us a private tour through the place he calls home. Additional columns include \u201cIn the News\u201d which showcases LMGI Fam Tours of the USAF, South Korea and our continued success at Comic-Con International.<\/p>\n

On a sober note, our hearts go out to our fallen colleagues and their families and friends. There are very real dangers lurking on the edges of our \u201cmovie magic\u201d worlds. In light of what happened to our compadres, Ed French and Carlos Mu\u00f1oz Portal, we urge you to please stay safe out there\u2026<\/p>\n
