The\u00a0Location Managers Guild International\/LMGI announced the winners of its 8th<\/sup>\u00a0Annual LMGI Awards themed \u201cCelebrate the Where\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 today in seven categories, honoring outstanding creative contributions of location professionals in film, television and commercials from around the globe, and recognizing outstanding service by film commissions for their support \u201cabove and beyond\u201d during the production process. Hosted by actor and director\u00a0Isaiah Mustafa,\u00a0<\/strong>this year\u2019s LMGI Awards returned to a virtual ceremony on a digital platform and streamed to a worldwide and more inclusive audience on\u00a0YouTube<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Vimeo<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Said John Rakich<\/strong>, LMGI President, \u201c\u2019International\u2019 isn\u2019t a big enough word for what we do. It\u2019s easy to imagine a scene taking place at any spot on the globe, or somewhere in outer space, or in a world that exists in a post-apocalyptic universe. Acclaimed Oscar\u00ae-winning actress\u00a0\u00a0Marlee Matlin,<\/strong>\u00a0whose lifetime advocacy for the deaf and hearing impaired as exhibited in the highly acclaimed film\u00a0Coda<\/em>\u00a0on Apple TV+, received the esteemed Humanitarian Award honoring the exemplary commitment that Matlin has made to spotlight the deaf and hearing impaired throughout her award-winning career in the motion picture and television worlds. Emmy\u00ae-winning actress\u00a0Camryn Manheim\u00a0<\/strong>(The Practice, Elvis, Happiness<\/em>) presented the award to Marlee.<\/p>\n

David Yates<\/strong>, acclaimed director of the last four\u00a0Harry Potter<\/em>\u00a0films and the\u00a0Fantastic Beasts\u00a0<\/em>films,<\/strong>\u00a0was bestowed with this year\u2019s distinguished Eva Monley Award, which recognizes and honors industry members who support the vision of location professionals, presented by veteran location manager\u00a0Sue Quinn<\/strong>\u00a0(Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them,\u00a0<\/em>four\u00a0Harry Potter\u00a0<\/em>films, Pirates of the Caribbean<\/em>).<\/p>\n

Location Manager\u00a0Aine Furey<\/strong>, a pioneer whose career spans almost four decades and over 400 hours of screen time, received the 2021 LMGI Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by Producer\u00a0Jeff King\u00a0<\/strong>(The Umbrella Academy<\/em>) and\u00a0Art Hindle.<\/strong>\u00a0Furey can easily be called a pioneer who was instrumental in establishing Ontario as an attractive production environment for film and television production.<\/p>\n

Patricia Fay<\/strong>\u00a0(Dante\u2019s Peak, Assassins, Always, The Patriot<\/em>) who spent many years traveling the country by trains, planes, snowmobiles and whatever it took as a location manager until her retirement in 2000, received the esteemed Trailblazer Award, presented by Emmy-winning Production Designer\u00a0Jim Bissell<\/strong>\u00a0(Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, Mission Impossible: Ghost<\/em>)<\/p>\n
