5th Annual LMGI Awards Submissions FAQ’s

Do you have to be an LMGI member to make a submission?

No, this award is open to the Location Community and to the production community world-wide. To learn more about the LMGI and how to become a member, please visit our website at Locationmanagers.org.

Can you nominate yourself?

Absolutely! You know best, as the Location Professional, what you brought to this project and why.

Does the submitted project have to be in English?

No, but hopefully there are subtitles. ;)︎

Can a location team be nominated?

We know that what we do is a team effort, but this award has in the past honored the Supervising Location Manager, two managers if applicable, or additional managers or scouts if locations from multiple countries regions have been used.

Does the project have to have aired or been released in 2017?

Yes, this is a basic requirement.

When does the submission period open/close?

The submission period is now open. The deadline is 11:55 PM PST, January 14, 2018.

Who is eligible to vote on the nominations?

All Active and Emeritus members in good standing with the LMGI (dues are current) are eligible to vote. The Awards committee will review each submission to confirm that the basic criteria has been met. Accepted submissions will be presented to the LMGI membership for a vote. The top five finalists in each category will again be voted on by the LMGI membership and all finalists will be invited to attend the Awards gala in Los Angeles where the winners will be announced.

How much of the film or TV show or commercial has to be filmed on location for a project to qualify for an LMGI Award?

At least 65% must have been filmed on location for films, 60% on location for television projects and 75% for commercials. Once your submission has been received, we will contact your UPM to confirm. Second unit location days and VFX unit location days can also be considered as part of the qualifying percentage of days.
