12th Annual LMGI Awards Submission FAQs
Do you have to be an LMGI member to make a submission?
No, the Award submission process is open to the worldwide location and production communities. Submissions will be accepted from LMGI members and business partners, film commissions, location professionals, industry professionals and vendors, studios, and production companies. Submissions are also accepted from individuals not associated with the project.
There is no submission fee.
Can you nominate yourself?
Yes! You know best, as the location professional, what you brought to this project and why. You know who contributed most to the creative process, which may have included researching, dispatching scouts, scouting, presenting and helping in the selection of filming locations that were vital to the telling of the story. You understand how the chosen locations set the tone, enrich character, and enhance the narrative. All submissions are confidential.
Can a location team be nominated?
No, nominated location professionals are the individuals that have contributed the most to the creativity that is integral to the story rather than the logistical challenges faced by the team. The SLM may accept the award on behalf of all or share with others who also contributed artistically. There is no “Team” category, but additional location department members will receive an Honorary Certificates should the project win.
What if you don’t know all the information requested in the submission application?
Please fill out the form with as much information as you can, providing as many names and as much contact detail as possible. Answer “I don’t know” if relevant. If the Awards committee cannot verify the entry, it may be disqualified. All questions in bold must be answered to submit the form.
What kinds of projects are eligible for consideration?
The LMGI honors the work of Location Professionals in scripted Television, Film and Commercial productions. Film Commissions are nominated for their above and beyond assistance for scripted productions that have filmed within their jurisdiction.
Reality or Documentary programs are not eligible.
Does the project have to have aired or been released in 2024 or 2025?
Entries first released between June 2, 2024 and June 1, 2025, are eligible.
How much of the production has to be filmed on location for a project to qualify for an LMGI Award?
At least 60% of the project must have been filmed on location. Once a submission has been received, the Awards committee will begin the vetting process by contacting members of the production team to verify eligibility. Second unit location days and VFX unit location days may also be considered part of the qualifying percentage of days.
Does the submitted project have to be in English?
No. If the submission is in a language other than English, it must be available to view with subtitles.
Does the submitted project have to be available for the Awards committee to view?
Yes. If the Awards Committee cannot view the project on available platforms, it will not be eligible.
Is there a specific format required for submitted clips or trailers?
Yes, we only accept videos from YouTube or Vimeo formats.
Who reviews the submissions?
The Awards Committee receives and reviews all Submissions. All Submissions are confidential, but the name of the submitter may be shared with others on the project.
