“The achievements of an organization are the results of the combined effort of each individual.”

Our spring issue, just like the season, is crafted in the spirit of renewal and resilience. As the dreary days of winter give way to a

Instead of waxing poetic about the gloriously warm days of summer for us here in Los Angeles, we are zooming out, and just as the Guild has expanded internationally, so has our point of view. It is, after all, winter in Australia! Our “Summer” issue is filled with stories of what you, our members, have been up to this past season, no matter the weather!

You have sent in a record number of submissions for this year’s 12th Annual LMGI Awards. From the opening of awards season in March, location professionals in cities across the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Europe, Asia and Australia offered more than 200 projects for consideration by our Awards Committee. Our cover story,“And the Finalists Are…” is a quick guide to how each project that made it to the final round embodies this year’s theme, “Where Story Lives.” We are all looking forward to the awards gala on August 23, where the winners will be announced!

You have vigorously pursued goals that are important to us as a community, with many opportunities for artistic growth, learning and connection. Our “In the News” section is bursting its bindings; its pages document a season of gatherings and events the world over.

There was the LMGI Board Retreat and the Education Committee’s Summer Solstice Event in Los Angeles, and more LMGI members accepted into the AMPAS Class of 2025. Another Savannah class on the art and craft of location managing and scouting was taught by LMGI Board and Education Committee members Mac Gordon and Ryan Schaetzle and the 3rd SageFilmLocations.com/LMGI Event convened in Manhattan, NY.

From networking at the Cannes Film Festival to LMGI’s Oceania Regional Members Event on Australia’s Gold Coast and member Joseph Formosa Randon’s acceptance of the “Golden Bee” Award for Career Achievement at the Mediterrane Film Festival in Malta, our international presence is well-noted.

Some of you traveled to Valladolid, Spain, for the 4th Annual Shooting Locations Marketplace and attended Fam Tours to Bilbao and Ibiza, which you share with us in stunning photographs of those regions.

You took a breath to appreciate the deep connection we often make with a place as we point our cameras in hope of capturing its singular essence. In the photo essay,  “Hidden Gems and Golden Light: Scouting the Timeless Landscapes of British Columbia’s Interior” scout Mary Putnam/LMGI reveals the stunning beauty found in the landscapes and routines that make up the region’s ranch life. And KALM/scout Ehrin Davis gives us a glorious burst of New Mexico’s summer color in our “Martini Shot.”

We hope to see you all in person on Saturday, August 23, at the LMGI Awards gala in Santa Monica, CA, or following the event livestreamed on YouTube, as we all continue to move forward together with purpose in this remarkable season of meaningful gatherings, recognition and celebration!

Until next time,
