Winners Announced for the 9th Annual LMGI Awards

What an exciting night we had at The 9thAnnual LMGI Awards!  Our first time together in person for over two years yielded a stellar turnout and a rocking after-party at the LA Center Studios, including over 400 LMGI members, industry executives and press.

The Awards Ceremony was kicked off by a heartfelt speech from LMGI President and Awards Committee Chair, John Rakich/LMGI and taken over by Master of ceremonies Paul Scheer (Black Monday, How Did This Get Made), who kept the show lively with his witty humor and accurate insights into how locations and the entertainment business works!

Honorary Awards:

Director Martin Scorsese, considered one of the most prominent and influential filmmakers working today, received the prestigious Eva Monley Award, honoring his more than 50-years of extraordinary award-winning work.  The Award was presented by former LMGI President, Mike Fantasia.

The LMGI Humanitarian Award was presented to British actor Orlando Bloom. His role as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador sheds light on the plight of Ukrainian children forced to evacuate their country amid the ongoing Russian invasion.

Location Manager John Panzarella /LMGI (Midnight Run, LA Confidential, The Italian Job, Vice) was presented with the LMGI Lifetime Achievement Award for his exceptional 35 year career in the film industry as a Location Manager.  The award was presented to him by his longtime friend and collaborator, Clay Griffith (Jerry Maguire).

LMGI 1st Vice President Alison Taylor bestowed the 2022 Trailblazer Award to Joanelle Romero, Founder and President of Red Nation Celebration Institute, honoring the RNCI’s trailblazing initiatives to promote inclusivity in the film industry and bring revenue to Native communities. Bird Singer Zion White performed a historic indigenous dance to celebrate the native culture.

Additional presenters included Emmy®-winning /Oscar®-nominated actor James Cromwell (American Horror Story, Asylum, The Longest Yard, Babe), Alexis Floyd, (Inventing Anna, Grey’s Anatomy), Amy Hill (Mack and Rita, Fifty First Dates, Mom), and Kate Linder (The Young and Restless) and Megan Henderson, co-anchor of “KTLA Morning News.”

The LMGI Awards spotlight international features, television and commercials in which the creative use of filming locations set the tone, enrich the character and enhance the narrative.
