32At a time when women were expected to stay at home and raise children, Eva Monley was roving the globe, scouting remote and difficult regions for such legendary directors as John Huston, David Lean, Otto Preminger, Steven Spielberg and many others.  She was a spirited, innovative person whose contributions to the location profession spanned a four-decade career.

When considering the Honorary Award, the LMGA Board of Directors voted unanimously to name the Honorary Award after her.

Eva Monley died November 12, 2011 in her home in Kenya of pneumonia at the age of 88. The LMGA Awards were conceived about the same time. “I can’t think of anything nicer or more appropriate than honoring Eva in this way,” says her nephew Richard Nightingale.

The LMGA Eva Monley Award will be given to an industry professional that has demonstrated ‘above and beyond’ support of the work of location professionals.
