Join the 6th Annual Five Acres Orphanage Holiday Drive!
Their programs help over 7500 children and families in Los Angeles County. Their property in Altadena is home to 80 children between the ages of 5 to 13 years old, however the holiday drive will also include hundreds of other participants in their other programs ranging in age from newborn to 18 years old. The Altadena campus is 50% children to be placed in foster care and 50% children looking for adoption. 90% of the children in their program are placed there due to neglect. The average stay for a child is 9 to 10 months prior to placement.
Teen Wolf Location Manager Jennifer Dunne’s holiday drive began as a way for the film community to give back to the residents of Los Angeles. This year, Jennifer has teamed with the TV series Teen Wolf, Criminal Minds Without Borders, Criminal Minds Transportation, Scandal, Fresh Off the Boat, Castle, The Sentence ,FilmLa, ABC, Walt Disney Legal and the LMGA to organize a toy/ basic need drive for Five Acres – an orphanage, foster care, and residential treatment center in Altadena, CA.
Each child has created a wish list of items they are hoping to received from Santa this year and we will divide those onto an Angel Tree so individuals can chose a child, age, and item to purchase. Five Acres also gifts each child their own pair of pajamas and sheets, which are listed on the tree. The requests also include things like toothbrushes, underwear, and socks. Once you pick an item/ items, you tape the tag onto the gift and drop it off at one of the donation boxes. Not near an Angel Tree/ donation box? Contact email@example.com for individual arrangements. Five Acres is a 531c3 Corporation. All donations are tax deductible
The Teen Wolf, Castle & Fresh Off The Boat Production offices and FilmLA will have the angel trees and boxes beginning November 23rd for donations. The gifts need to be new and sent unwrapped, so they can account for what has been earmarked for each child. The boxes will remain in the office until December 11th. All items need to be delivered to Five Acres on December 14th.
The Teen Wolf location department can also make arrangements for those who prefer to send monetary donations, or become a Cottage Angel, where a sponsorship of $500 will provide a holiday tree, ornaments, and home accents like garland, stockings, and wreaths for 10 children living in their residential treatment center.
