The Location Managers Guild International (LMGI), is proud to celebrate the Guild’s expanded presence in Atlanta with a series of events geared towards educating and connecting location professionals and the local Atlanta filming community, the latest of which is the LMGI Location Pro Workshops. Co-hosted by Evergreen Marriott and Stone Mountain Park, the workshop will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019, from 10 am to 4 pm.

“Georgia’s film industry is on fire,” says Mike Fantasia, renowned Supervising Location Manager and President of the LMGI. “In March alone 38 movies and TV shows are filming throughout the state creating a huge demand for skilled location professionals. This event is the first of what will hopefully be many more bringing location professionals together to enhance skills and discuss local issues.”

The free event will begin at 10 am with a series of educational seminars taught by experienced, local location professionals and will culminate at 12 noon with a hosted picnic and property tour. According to LMGI board member and event organizer Mac Gordon, “The day will provide a fantastic way for those new to the craft and experienced pros alike to learn tricks of the trade and to network. We are very excited about the interest we’ve received and look forward to a great event.”

The day’s schedule features three concurrent workshops to be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon:

Workshop #1 – Scouting with Style – This workshop designed for Assistant and Key Assistant Location Managers, will be taught by Scouts Lenzi Sealy (Brightburn, MacGyver, Amazing Stories) and Michael Woodruff (Edge of Fear, Doom Patrol, Brightburn) and moderated by Location Manager Ryan Schaetzle. (Uncle Drew, American Made, Halt and Catch Fire)

Workshop #2 – Don’t Panic: Life, The Universe and Everything – This workshop is geared towards the nitty gritty of the job; vital skills and expert advice on how to do your job well and not go crazy. Conducted by: Samantha Idelson (Night School, MacGyver, Dirty Grandpa), Kyle Carey (Stranger Things, Antman and the Wasp, A Walk in the Woods), Mela Rayne (Zombieland 2, The Boy Who Knew Too Much) and with LM Matt Chamberlin (Zombieland 2, Love is Blind, Sully) moderating.

Workshop #3 – Location Managers of the Round Table – Moderated by LMGI member John Latenser (Front Runner, Nebraska, Step Sisters) and Andrea Keener (MacGyver, Cold Case), this workshop directly addresses issues or questions about filming specifically in the Atlanta region and allows for a free exchange of ideas for improvement.

The workshops will be followed by a picnic at the pavilion on the lake and tours throughout the afternoon. The event ends at 4 pm.
